How to calculate a discount amount?

To calculate the discount amount, you need the original price of the item and the discount percentage. The formula to calculate the discount amount is as follows:

Discount Amount = Original Price x Discount Percentage / 100

For example, if an item priced at 100 euros has a 20% discount, then the discount amount is 20 euros:

Discount Amount = 100 euros x 20 / 100 = 20 euros

This formula provides the discount amount in the same unit as the original price. So if the original price is in euros, the discount amount will also be in euros.

It's important to note that this formula only provides the discount amount. To find the sale price of the item, you need to subtract the discount amount from the original price.
